The Beginning of Your Jewelry Story
Whether you’re redesigning a family heirloom, creating an engagement ring, or dreaming up a completely custom piece, the first Design Appointment is where ideas begin to take shape.
Some clients arrive with a fully formed vision. Others come with only a few saved photos or a general feeling they want their piece to capture. Both are completely normal.
Our role is to guide you through the process thoughtfully, helping refine your ideas while educating you along the way.
The experience is collaborative, relaxed, and entirely centered around you.

Before Your Appointment
You do not need to have every detail figured out before we meet.
However, gathering a few inspirations beforehand helps us better understand your style and goals.
WE RECOMMEND
- Creating a Pinterest board or saving inspiration images
- Noting preferred styles (modern, antique-inspired, minimalist, organic, etc.)
- Thinking about metal preferences
- Considering gemstone or diamond shapes you love
- Bringing heirloom jewelry or loose stones you may want to incorporate
- Having a general budget range in mind
APPOINTMENT TOPICS
- Design inspiration and personal style
- Lifestyle considerations
- Metal options and durability
- Diamond and gemstone education
- Setting styles and proportions
- Timeline expectations
- Budget considerations
- Heirloom redesign possibilities
One of the most valuable parts of the appointment is seeing examples in person. Details like scale, proportions, stone shapes, and setting styles often become much clearer once you can physically interact with them.
Our goal is never to pressure you into a decision. It’s to help you feel informed, confident, and excited about the process.
Working with a private jeweler is intentionally different from traditional jewelry retail. Rather than presenting whatever happens to be in a display case, we curate options specifically around your goals, style, and priorities. Many clients tell us they expected the process to feel intimidating — but leave feeling educated, comfortable, and genuinely excited. Questions are encouraged. In fact, they’re one of the best parts of the process.
Understanding Timeline Expectations
We generally recommend scheduling your Design Appointment within approximately six months of your ideal completion date.
Custom jewelry involves multiple phases, including:
- Design development
- Stone sourcing
- CAD rendering
- Revisions and approvals
- Production and stone setting
- Final quality control
While many projects are completed in roughly 6–8 weeks, timelines can vary depending on complexity, sourcing requirements, and seasonal demand.
Starting earlier allows for a more relaxed, thoughtful process — especially for engagement rings or meaningful milestone pieces.
What Happens After the Appointment
After your consultation, you’ll receive a recap of the ideas, direction, and next steps discussed during your meeting.
From there, we may move into:
- Design retainers
- Gemstone or diamond sourcing
- CAD renderings
- Design refinements
- Resin prototypes
- Final production
Throughout the process, clients are kept informed with ongoing communication and visual updates, ensuring the final piece feels intentional and deeply personal.
More Than a Jewelry Purchase
Custom jewelry is rarely just about jewelry.
Often, it represents a relationship, a milestone, a memory, or a person we never want to forget. The design process should reflect that significance.
Our goal is to create an experience that feels personal, collaborative, and worthy of the heirloom you’re creating together.
